The Boston Celtics travel north of the border to face the Toronto Raptors in Saturday
The Boston Celtics and their fading playoff hopes took another step back in Friday night’s 110-101 loss to visiting Milwaukee. A 36-23 meltdown in the third quarter did Boston in as their defense was non existent with the Bucks sinking shots at a white hot 53%. The Celtics countered with a mediocre 44% marksmanship which was well short of being competitive. Isaiah Thomas was the best offensive option with 23 points and six pulls on 7-12 from the floor while Avery Bradley and Jonas Jerebko netted 17 points each with Jerebko posting five helpers. Brandon Bass followed with 12 points while Tyler Zeller and Jae Crowder combined for 17 points.

The Toronto Raptors might have let an all important win slip through their fingers in Friday’s 114-109 defeat at Brooklyn on Friday night. The Raptors took a five point lead at the intermission by limiting the Nets to a mere 15 second quarter points. However their defense disappeared in the second half with Brooklyn throwing 65 points on the scoreboard. Little defense was played overall by either squad with both connecting in the 51%-52% range with 16 Toronto turnovers leading the way to six more Nets looks at the basket and four more makes. DeMar DeRozan led the offense with 27 points, eight boards and eight assists with Louis Williams netting 23 points. Jonas Valanciunas followed with 21 points and nine rebounds while James Patrick Peterson and Amir Johnson added 12 and eleven points.
The Celtics are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-1 in Celtics last 5 Saturday games and is 4-1 in Celtics last 5 games playing on 0 days rest. The Under is 4-1 in Raptors last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and is 4-1 in Raptors last 5 vs. a team with a losing S.U. record while the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest. Head to head Celtics are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Toronto and 21-10-1 ATS in the last 32 meetings. Toronto is the better team but this is the Celtics last stand for the postseason in my view…
