The Miami Heat welcome the Charlotte Hornets to the American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been fading a down the stretch with defeats in six of ten with the number four defense in the league unable to win on their lonesome on a consistent basis. It was just enough to steal a 92-91 versus visiting Philadelphia on Saturday as a 6.5 point favorite. The 76ers were held to less then 37% shooting and forced in to 15 turnovers but stayed competitive on an 11-26 effort on threes. The Hornets responded with around 41% marksmanship but were nearly done in on a 1-13 mark from distance. Kemba Walker poured in a game high 24 points and snagged five boards on 11-21 shooting while Mo Williams was next in line with 18 points and five assists. Marvin Williams added eleven points and seven boards followed by a nine point, nine rebound effort from Bismack Biyombo.

The Miami Heat are mirror images of their counterparts with not much going on offensively so there is a heavy reliance on the number six defense that allows just 97 points. Neither end of the floor has stood out during a four game slide that was capped off by a 112-89 loss at Indiana. The Heat actually held a slight 45%-43.5% shooting advantage with the Pacers connecting on 14-30 from the perimeter while Miami was 2-20 on threes which was decisive. Dwayne Wade was at the top of his game with a contest high 27 points on 11-21 from the field while James Ennis tossed in 17 points and snared five yanks. Goran Dragic netted 15 points and posted five helpers followed by a ten point, ten rebound performance from Udonis Haslem.
The Hornets are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game while going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. For Miami the over is 4-0 in Heat last 4 games following a ATS loss and is 4-0 in Heat last 4 games following a S.U. loss while the Heat are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Head to head the over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Miami with the Hornets going 4-12-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings with the over going 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
Neither team makes me confident with their play with nothing at stake but I’ll give this a shot…
