The Dallas Mavericks play host to the Phoenix Suns in Wednesday night NBA action.
With the end of the regular season within sight the Phoenix Suns probably can’t wait for the final day as they are mired in a season ending slump with defeats in seven of eight. The Suns are coming off of a 96-69 rout at Atlanta on Tuesday who were playing without leading scorer Paul Milsap. It mattered little as the Hawks approached 50% shooting while Phoenix couldn’t buy a basket on 31% marksmanship which included a 4-20 mark on threes. Gerald Green was the team’s only double digit scorer with 15 points on 6-16 shooting with Eric Bledsoe next in line with nine points. Markieff Morris, Marcus Morris, Brandan Wright ans Archie Goodwin each netted eight points but the high scoring offens simply didn’t make shots.

The Dallas Mavericks haven’t been setting the world on fire with defeats in four of five and six of eight. The Mavericks can certainly score the basketball but the opposition has been doing a better job in that department as of late. Dallas is coming off of a 123-110 loss to visiting Golden State on Saturday as a 6.5 point favorite. The Warriors held a slight 45%-42.5% shooting advantage with15 more looks at the basket and 12 more three pointers to negate 16 more Mavericks free throws. Dirk Nowitzki paced the offense with 18 points followed by a 14 point effort from Monta Ellis. Richard Jefferson and Jose Juan Barea netted 14 points apiece with Richard Jefferson tossing in 13 while Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire scored ten points each with Chandler snaring 13 rebounds.
The Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 0 days rest while the under is 4-1 in Suns last 5 Wednesday games. The Mavericks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games while the under is 4-1 in Mavericks last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Head to head the Suns are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Dallas. I don’t know if either team is worth a look with the way they play defense but perhaps the points after the Suns were embarrassed Tuesday…
