The Dallas Mavericks invade the Staples Center to battle the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Dallas Mavericks have won three of their last five and will be looking to build on a thriller 144-143 double overtime victory over the Nuggets on Friday. Dirk Nowitzki led the scoring with 25 points, Richard Jefferson added 24 points and Devin Harris added 21 points, but on a night that invovled a total of 110 made field goals, it was Raymond Felton's game-winning layup with 1.5 seconds left in the game that put the Mavs over the line in a shootout. With the win, Dallas improves to 48-31 but with the seventh seed all but locked up and nothing really to play for, coach Carlisle may opt to rest one or two players before the playoffs begin.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost seven of their last nine games overall but were able to snap a five-game skid on Friday with a 106-98 win over the Timberwolves. Ryan Kelly made five threes en route to 21 points, Jabari Brown added 20 points and Jordan Clarkson had 18 points and nine assists as the Lakers improved to 21-58 on the season. With nothing to play for, Carlos Boozer, Jordan Hill and Wayne Ellington were all rested to give the younger players more minutes and this trend should continue for the remainder of the season.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games following a win, while the Lakers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the Mavs are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Los Angeles but the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Lakers are obviously underdogs against the Mavs in this one, but with the Mavs coming off a double overtime game, I'm smelling a bit of an upset brewing in this one.
