The Toronto Raptors will be looking to level the series against the Washington Wizards tonight in Game 2.
In a battle of two of the best young point guards in the Eastern Conference, it was actually the 37 year-old Paul Pierce who led the game in scoring with 20 points on seven of 10 shooting. Bradley Beal shot just six of 23 but added 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists while John Wall shot five of 18 for his 10 points and eight assists as the Wizards outlasted the Raptors in a 93-86 overtime win in Game 1.
USA TODAY Sports
For the Raptors, Amir Johnson led the scoring with 18 points off the bench while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 15 points and six assists, but he shot just six of 20 while Kyle Lowry added just seven points as the Raptors stormed their way back from a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter only to go ice-cold in overtime. As a team, the Raptors have so much to improve on from their effort in Game 1, but their first problem to address has to be their efforts on the boards as they were outrebounded by 61-48 which was just too much to overcome.
In ATS trends, the Wizards are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, while the Raptors are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Wizards are 6-13 ATS in the last 19 meetings overall but the road team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Raptors can't afford to go down 0-2 in the series so you just know that they'll come out with guns blazing in Game 2, but I think it's going to be another low-scoring grind of a game so taking the Wizards with the points feels like the safer play in my opinion.
