The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
School: Ohio State Buckeyes
Position: Point Guard
Career Stats: 19.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, five assists and 1.6 steals.
Strengths: D'Angelo Russell sees the floor extremely well and is a super creative passer. Russell knows when to pick his spots and can get just about any shot he wants whenever. Russell has a quick and smooth release that almost looks effortless at times. Russell is quite poised for such a young age and wants to be that go-to guy when his team needs a play. Russell could player either point or shooting guard. Russell has great range and can be a creative shotmaker. Defensively, Russell has a long wingspan that allows him to interrupt passing lanes and be an above-average rebounder for his position. D'Angelo Russell is a good kid who works hard and comes with zero off-the-court issues.
Weaknesses: D'Angelo Russell still needs to bulk up his frame a bit and add more upper-body strength. Russell could improve his consistency on the defensive end and his shot selection. Russell’s decision making could be better, as he averaged nearly three turnovers per game. Russell sometimes has trouble finishing in transition.
Projection: D'Angelo Russell is one of my favorite players in this draft class, as he’s a combo guard who could really fill up the stat sheet. Russell could be a key piece for a young team and eventually become an All-Star caliber player. Russell is only going to improve considering he’s only 19 years old, and there’s little doubt that he’s going to have a long and successful career in the NBA. Russell should be a top five pick without question.
