Career Stats: 17.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.3 assists and 1.4 blocks.
Strengths: Jahlil Okafor is a true big man who has the elite size and strength NBA teams like. Okafor has great footwork and does a nice job of getting and finishing at the rim. Okafor has a soft touch around the basket and has improved his mid-range game. Okafor is an impressive offensive rebounder and positions his body for easy putbacks. Okafor works through contact and got to the free throw line 194 times. Okafor constantly demanded double teams and has proven to be an underrated passer. Okafor has improved his conditioning and wants to be that go-to guy on the offensive end. Jahlil Okafor has a high basketball IQ and comes with zero off-the-court issues.
Weaknesses: Jahlil Okafor shot just 51 percent from the free throw line. Okafor tends to take plays off on the defensive end. Okafor lacks great lateral quickness and great athleticism overall. Okafor can struggle against athletic defenders and had 95 turnovers in 1,143 minutes played. Okafor needs to do a better job of defending without fouling. Okafor still needs to improve his outside shot, as it’s limited to about 15 feet.
Projection: Jahlil Okafor’s main concern for me is his free throw shooting, as I need my No. 1 guy to knock down better than 51 percent of his attempts. Besides that, Okafor is a the real deal and has All-Star potential at the next level. Okafor is going to be one of the first players taken in the draft and will have a long career as one of the top centers in the game.
