The Dallas Mavericks look to stave off elimination tonight when they battle the Houston Rockets in Game 4.
Down 2-0 in the series, the Mavericks desperately needed big games from their top two scorers and they got that as Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis poured in 34 points each. However, it still wasn't enough as the Mavs lost to the Rockets by 130-128 on Friday night. Al-Farouq Aminu added 15 points off the benchwhile JJ Barea added 11 points and nine assists off the bench, but when it came to the business end of the game, it was actually the Rockets who had the best player on the court.

James Harden led the Rockets with a monster game of 42 points and nine assists while shooting 15 of 25 from the field including five threes. Josh Smith continued his strong form with 18 points off the bench while Corey Brewer added 15 points, but this was all about Harden who had it cooking all game and brought his team to within one win of a second-round berth. To be fair, this one was really close and could have gone either way, but the Rockets have all the momentum in this series and that always plays a factor in basketball.
In ATS trends, the Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, while the Mavs are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Head to head, the Rockets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the home team is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall.
I really want to believe that the Mavs have what it takes to keep their season alive for one more game, but they were great in Game 3 and still couldn't get over the line. I'm sticking with the Rockets to win this one, cover the spread and move onto the next round.
