Strengths: Frank Kaminsky has a very high basketball IQ and usually always makes the right play. Kaminsky has great footwork and is comfortable going left or right. Kaminsky has NBA range from three and shot 76.3 percent from the free throw line. Kaminsky takes his time in the paint and has great touch around the basket. Kaminsky has great court vision and is an effective passer. Kaminsky is the ultimate inside-outside player. Kaminsky can create his own shot from anywhere and has a highly effective spin move. Kaminsky has improved defensively and held his own against Jahlil Okafor in the title game. Frank Kaminsky works hard and is the ultimate team guy who just wants to win.
Weaknesses: Frank Kaminsky isn’t a great athlete and he has limited lateral quickness. Kaminsky was a late bloomer in college and is already 22 years old. Despite his great size, Kaminsky isn’t as great of a rebounder as you would expect. Kaminsky doesn’t have that mean streak to him and doesn’t play as physical as you would expect from your big man. Kaminsky certainly needs to get stronger in the upper-body.
Projection: Many have major questions about Frank Kaminsky, but I love his game. Kaminsky is extremely bright and can simply fill it up offensively. You’re not going to find many guys his size who can take you down low and spread the floor behind the three-point line. I see Kaminsky being a very effective NBA player if given the chance, and I would spend a late lottery pick on him. Kaminsky is worth the risk, as I think many teams will be kicking themselves five years down the road if they pass up on him.
