2015 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Jerian Grant

Height: 6’5”

Weight: 185

Position: Point Guard

Career Stats: 14.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 5.8 assists and 1.5 steals.

Strengths: Jerian Grant has great size for the point guard position and sees the floor very well. Grant is an explosive athlete and has a knack for getting and finishing at the rim. Grant wants the ball in his hands in the clutch and isn’t afraid of big moments. Grant is a solid defender with great lateral quickness. Grant always keeps his head up and usually makes the right basketball play. Grant is one of the better ball handlers in this class and creates great separation. Grant shot 79 percent from the free throw line. Grant plays with energy and high confidence. Jerian Grant is an excellent leader and has a strong work ethic. Grant could play either guard spot in the next level.

Weaknesses: Jerian Grant needs to improve his consistency on his jump shot. Grant needs to do a better job of picking his spots and knowing when it’s OK to be a little selfish offensively. Grant isn’t much of a rebounder despite his great size for his position. Grant will be 23 year’s old this October.

Projection: Jerian Grant may be the best point guard in this class, as he has terrific size and is a polished player on the offensive end. There’s really no reason why Grant won’t be a successful player at the next level. I see Grant being selected in the middle of the first round and being an instant impact player regardless of where he lands.
