Strengths: Montrezl Harrell is a long, athletic big man with above-average leaping ability. Harrell is a physical defender who holds his own in one-on-one situations. Harrell has improved his range each season and is gaining confidence. Harrell has shown potential to knock down the occasional three. Harrell has a soft touch around the rim and is an active rebounder. Harrell has improved his decision making and passes well out of double teams. Montrezl Harrell is extremely passionate and plays with a ton of confidence. Harrell is a leader who will hold his teammates accountable. Harrell is a high energy guy with a strong motor.
Weaknesses: Montrezl Harrell doesn’t have great size for the PF position and could move over to small forward. Harrell shot just 55.3 percent from the free throw line. Harrell’s jumper is inconsistent, as is his offensive game overall. Harrell will have to get a little stronger in the upper-body area.
Projection: Montrezl Harrell isn’t much of an offensive player at this stage, but he’s a solid defender and a fire starter with the energy he brings to the floor. I could see Harrell going to a veteran team and being a key player off the bench when starters sit for rest. I really like Harrell, as he loves the game and plays with 100 percent heart. Harrell is also only going to get better offensively. Harrell should be selected within the first 20 picks.
