The Brooklyn Nets look to level the series with the Atlanta Hawks tonight in Game 4.
The Brooklyn Nets dropped the first two games of the series but were able to claw their way back into the series with a convincing 91-83 win over the Hawks in Game 3 on Saturday. Brook Lopez led the way with 22 points, Bojan Bogdanovic added 19 points and Thaddeus Young had 18 points as the Nets outlasted the Hawks on a night where both teams shot below 40 percent. In fact, Joe Johnson shot five of 17 for his 16 points while Deron Williams shot just one of eight for his three points, but the Nets just capitalized on a ice-cold start from the Hawks in the first quarter and found a way to register their first win of the series.
USA TODAY Sports
As for the Hawks, DeMarre Carroll led the team with 22 points on nine of 12 shooting while Paul Millsap added 18 points, 17 rebounds and five steals but the rest of the team struggled mightily, especially Kyle Korver and Dennis Schroder who combined to shoot two of 17 from the field for just five points. As a team, the Hawks shot a miserable 29 percent in the first quarter and finished on just 35.6 percent shooting for the game but despite their early struggles, they still managed to grab the lead late in the third quarter before the Nets finished strong in the fourth.
In ATS trends, the Hawks are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games overall, while the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Head to head, the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn and the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Nets looked pretty good in Game 3 but I'm not going to overreact because the Hawks are still the much better team and almost won it after falling behind by double digits early on.
