May 5, 2015
It’s been a pretty intense few days in the NBA Playoffs recently, and we’ve got two more games to look forward to tonight. Let’s take our daily look at the headlines and stats to see who’s in the news.
Bulls-Cavaliers: Everyone predicted this showdown between the Bulls and Cavaliers in the East, but what many didn’t plan on was Chicago’s confidence heading into the series.
The Bulls have even more confidence now after an impressive 99-92 victory in Game 1. Derrick Rose posted 25 points here in a performance reminiscent of his days before the knee injuries, and Pau Gasol added 21 of his own.
The Cavaliers could do little to stop the pick-and-roll here, regardless of the fact that they were missing both Kevin Love and J.R. Smith.
Kyrie Irving posted 30 points for the Cavaliers, and LeBron James added 19 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Clippers-Rockets: Speaking of playoff momentum, the Clippers certainly have that as well. They were coming off a seven-game series win over the defending champion Spurs, who didn’t go down easily.
Even with the loss of key player Chris Paul (left hamstring strain), L.A. was able to tough out a 117-101 win over the Rockets in Game 1 of their second-round series last night.
Blake Griffin managed 26 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists in another stellar performance, but really the whole team chipped in to cover the absence of Paul. The team iced the game in the fourth with a 12-0 run that allowed them to clinch the victory.
Dwight Howard scored 22 for Houston and James Harden managed 20. The team had 23 turnovers on the night.
