The Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets do battle in Game 4 tonight.
The Clippers will be sky high on confidence after destroying the Rockets in a 124-99 win in Game 3 on Friday. Chris Paul made his return to the court and hit the ground running, scoring 12 points and seven assists in just 23 minutes of play while Blake Griffin added 22 points and 14 rebounds, but even 31 points on 11 of 14 shooting from JJ Redick got unnoticed as Austin Rivers poured in 25 points in just 23 off the bench in a whirlwind performance. Neither team could really miss a shot in a high-scoring first half, but the Clippers really clamped down in a dominant 35-19 third quarter and it was Rivers who sparked a game-winning 20-3 run for the Clippers.
USA TODAY Sports
As for the Rockets, James Harden led the way with 25 points and 11 assists while Dwight Howard added 14 points and 14 rebounds, but the Rockets shot just 39.8 percent as a team and it was because they missed way too many shots from within five feet of the basket. Defensively, the Rockets just gave away too many dunks and then they didn't pay enough attention to the Clippers' Redick who was allowed too many catch and shoot opportunities. Frustrations definitely boiled over late in the game and Jason Terry was the first one to crack as he got ejected after barging into Griffin after a blown whistle, so expect a better fight from the Rockets tonight.
In ATS trends, the Rockets are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Conference Semfinals games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Head to head, the Rockets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 meetings overall.
The Clippers thoroughly outplayed the Rockets on both sides of the court in Game 3 and I'm expecting more of the same. Sure, the Clippers won't win by the same margin, but I'm still taking the Clippers to win by double digits at home.
