USA TODAY Sports
Position: Power Forward
Career Stats: 7.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.4 assists and 1.3 blocks
Strengths: Cliff Alexander is a strong, physical big man with an NBA body. Alexander runs the floor well and is a terrific and aggressive rebounder. Alexander jumps well for a guy his size and times his shot block well. Alexander has a great motor and plays with a ton of energy. Alexander has good hands for a big man and finishes strong at the rim. Alexander shot an OK 67.1 percent from the free throw line. Alexander has good footwork and has shown flashes of impressive post moves. Cliff Alexander works hard and comes with zero off-the-court issues. Alexander will turn 20 years old in November.
Weaknesses: Cliff Alexander is a project on the offensive end. Alexander struggles against length and averaged a turnover per game despite playing just over 17 minutes per contest. Alexander lacks a mid-range game and isn’t a guy you’re going to call many plays for. Alexander doesn’t have a great basketball IQ.
Projection: Cliff Alexander is a project for a veteran team, as he has a ton of work to do on the offensive end. However, Alexander is a great energy guy and gives you his all on the glass. Alexander reminds me of a Thomas Robinson, somebody who could contribute if given an honest chance but will take some time to reach his full potential. Still, I’d take a late first round pick on him given the potential and what he brings right away to a possible playoff team.
