USA TODAY Sports
Position: Power Forward
Career Stats: 7.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.6 assists and 1.7 blocks
Strengths: Rakeem Christmas is an athletic big with an NBA body. Christmas has soft hands and finishes well around the basket. Christmas finishes strong through contact and wants the ball in his hands. Christmas runs the floor well for a big and plays with a ton of energy. Christmas is an active defender with great timing when blocking shots. Christmas has good lateral quickness and boxes out well. Christmas shot an OK 68.1 percent from the free throw line. Christmas passes well out of double teams and usually doesn’t force the issue offensively. Rakeem Christmas has a strong work ethic and comes with zero off-the-court issues.
Weaknesses: Rakeem Christmas is still very raw on the offensive end with no consistent post-up move. Christmas needs to improve his jumper and mid-range game. Christmas will be limited to the power forward position due to being slightly undersized. Christmas turned the ball over 2.5 times his senior season. Christmas will be 24 years old in December.
Projection: Rakeem Christmas has the potential to be a very solid pro, as his offensive game has improved and he’s already an above-average defender. The only main issue I have with Christmas is the fact he’ll be 24 years old this year. Is that really somebody you’re going to draft in the first round? Either way, Christmas will be a successful and productive pro.
