It was a long basketball-less weekend in the NBA, as we’re still waiting for the Finals to begin on Thursday. In the meantime, there’s plenty to talk about, so let’s take a moment to visit with the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.

Good news for Lakers fans. Forward Julius Randle is coming off a broken leg suffered on opening night, but he’s reporting himself as nearly back to 100 percent.
Randle needs to shake the rust off and come back healthy if he’s going to make a significant impact with the Lakers in 2015-16. We’ll see how he looks when he gets back on the court.

Has Greg Monroe played his last season in Detroit? If you read between the lines of coach Stan Van Gundy’s recent comments, it’s certainly possible.
Monroe is set to become a free agent this off-season, and Van Gundy didn’t sound like the team was all too desperate to get a new deal done. He seemed like the Pistons brass was leaving its options open, but didn’t really express too much interest in Monroe. We’ll see how things go this off-season.

In other Pistons news, the team now has a couple of similar players in Reggie Jackson and Brandon Jennings, but they seem to believe the pair can play together.
Van Gundy thinks there are plenty of minutes to go around between the two players, and we could see them playing in the same backcourt this season.
Whether or not that will work remains to be seen, so it’ll be an interesting storyline for Pistons fans this year.

We’ve got a bit of an update on the Cavs’ Kyrie Irving today. He was able to practice yesterday, but still remains questionable for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday.
Irving’s trying to get over a knee injury, which kept him limited on the practice court this weekend.
