The Seattle Storm and Los Angeles Sparks meet Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center.
The Seattle Storm look to snap a two-game skid and their first road win. The Seattle Storm are averaging 67 points on 37.9 percent shooting and are allowing 74.3 points on 41.3 percent shooting. Renee Montgomery is averaging 13 points and 4.3 assists while Crystal Langhorne is averaging 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. Sue Bird is dishing 4.3 assists and Alysha Clark is grabbing 4.7 rebounds. The Seattle Storm are simply giving teams whatever they want offensively, especially in their last game in which they allowed the Minnesota Lynx to shoot 53 percent from the field. The Storm’s lone win this season came against the Sparks, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can duplicate that success on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Sparks look for their first win and play for the first time in eight days. The Los Angeles Sparks are averaging 61 points on 34.3 percent shooting and are allowing 86 points on 51.6 percent shooting. Alana Beard is averaging 20 points and four rebounds while Erin Phillips is averaging 11 points and five assists. Jantel Lavender is the third double-digit scorer and Jennifer Lacy is grabbing six rebounds. The Los Angeles Sparks have had a lot of time to think about their poor showing in their season opener. Of course, there’s only so much the Sparks can do until Candace Parker decides to return. The Sparks have won four of their last five home games. Nnemkadi Ogwumike is questionable with an ankle injury.
The Storm are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Sparks are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Storm are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Los Angeles.
Even though the Sparks aren't at full strength, they've had eight days of rest and time to figure things out. Add in the home crowd, and I like the Sparks to win and cover.
