See the Latest Odds

This will be the first off-season weekend in the NBA, and it feels a little weird not having basketball right now. That said, let’s check out some of our notable headlines from this morning and see what’s happening out there in the league.

Pistons PG Brandon Jennings looks like he’s made some good progress from his torn Achilles. He’s begun working out at the team’s training facility this week.
Jennings has also begun shooting and seems to be on the road to recovery after his January injury.

Another player who’s been doing some working out in a recovery from injury is the Hornets’ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He’s at the stage where he’s doing light dribbling and shooting exercises.
Kidd-Gilchrist is coming off an ankle injury that put him on the sidelines way back in March. If he stays on schedule he should begin doing some cuts in a couple of weeks.

Now let’s check out some issues from the Eastern Conference Champion Cavaliers.
The team’s GM made some comments yesterday on the state of the team, and mentioned that he expected both Kevin Love and LeBron James to opt out of their contracts this off-season. He also expects both of those guys to re-sign shortly thereafter.
The team will also be extending qualifying offers to both Iman Shumpert and Matthew Dellavedova. That action will make both players restricted free agents.
As for veteran Shawn Marion, he’s going to be retiring. Marion has been maintaining his desire to call it a career for some time now, and it looks like this really is it for him.
The Cavaliers will also be trying to bring back forward Tristan Thompson. That might be a little difficult, however, given the fact that Thompson will likely be seeking out a maximum contract. We’ll see if Cleveland has the wiggle room to accommodate his desires enough to keep him in town.

NBA Off-Season Schedule: Now that the season is over, we can spend the rest of our summer prepping for the 2015-16 campaign. Let’s check out a few key dates from the off-season period.

June 25: NBA Draft

July 1: Free Agency Period Begins

July 8: Moratorium Lifts

Early July: NBA Summer League
