NBA Player Updates 6/23: The Latest News from Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
June 23, 2015
We’re creeping through another workweek in the NBA off-season, and we’ve got the draft to look forward to in a couple of days. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the news.
Any teams in the NBA who were hoping to tempt the Kings into trading All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins got their dreams dashed this weekend, as Sacramento vice president Vlade Divac said the Kings have no intent of trading him.
Even though Cousins won’t be going anywhere, don’t think the Kings won’t be making other moves this off-season. They’re reportedly in the market for more 3-point shooting and could address that issue in the draft. If not, look for them to be active on the open market.

It’s been a really interesting off-season so far for the Heat, as there’s been lots of drama surrounding veteran guard Dwyane Wade and his contract situation.
Wade and the team have reportedly hit a snag in their talks, and as of right now he’s set to be entering free agency. Once that happens, he’ll have plenty of potential suitors to choose from, and the Lakers are apparently on that list.
Wade’s offers from the Heat have reportedly been under $10 million per year, which simply isn’t enough for his camp. The 33-year-old posted 21.5 PPG and 4.8 APG averages in 2014-15.
The Nets’ Thaddeus Young will reportedly be opting out of his contract and becoming a free agent this off-season.
Young will see some interest from several teams, including the Nets. He logged 14.1 PPG and 5.4 RPG this season with Minnesota and Brooklyn.
In a similar situation, the Blazers’ Arron Afflalo is set to opt out of his deal in Portland and become a free agent.
Afflalo played in 25 games as a Trail Blazer, posting 10.6 PPG in that time.
