The Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat play a Sunday preseason game at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a Saturday 106-100 victory over the Orlando Magic. Nicolas Batum led Charlotte with 14 points and six rebounds while Kemba Walker had 13 points and eight assists. Jeremy Lin scored 17 points off the bench and Cody Zeller grabbed five rebounds. The Hornets looked really sharp, as they drained 12 threes and had three double-digit scorers off the bench. The Charlotte Hornets are a young basketball team that has a lot of guys competing for opening playing time. Rookie Frank Kaminsky III had seven points in 10 minutes of action. However, the Hornets have to be concerned about starter Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who left Saturday’s game with an arm injury.

The Miami Heat hope to return to the playoffs after a disappointing year that was filled with injuries. The Heat are loaded with a healthy starting five that includes Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Hassan Whiteside, Luol Deng and Goran Dragic. While that’s quite impressive, the Heat have to get their bench going if they’re going to become a legit contender in the East. Amar'e Stoudemire and Gerald Green help, but the preseason will be about the younger players on this Miami squad. Players such as Tyler Johnson, James Ennis and rookie Justise Winslow have a chance to breathe some youth into such an old team. The Heat just need to gel together now that everybody is healthy, as they have the potential to be a dark horse contender to come out of the East.
The Hornets just played last night and now have to travel. The Heat have a ton of experience and talent at both ends of the court. Add in the home court advantage, and I like the Heat to get the job done.
Heat win and cover.
