The Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers meet Monday for preseason action at the Moda Center.
The Sacramento Kings have not made the playoffs since 2005 but are hoping to change things under head coach George Karl. The Kings have some decent building blocks with DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Darren Collison. The additions of Rajon Rondo and Caron Butler bring some veteran experience to this young Sacramento squad. This preseason, the Sacramento Kings have a lot of young players to watch. Rookie Willie Cauley-Stein is a possible starter at power forward, Seth Curry gets another shot to make an NBA roster and David Stockton is the son of NBA Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton. Needless to say, the Kings are going to be an interesting watch on and off the court this season.

The Portland Trail Blazers have made the playoffs in five of the last seven seasons but are a completely different team this year. With so much talent leaving Portland during the offseason, it’s basically Damian Lillard and a bunch of question marks. Mason Plumlee provides stability at the center position and Noah Vonleh has high upside, but there’s not much other than that for the Trail Blazers to hold their hat on. Players to watch this preseason for Portland include Maurice Harkless, Cliff Alexander and Pat Connaughton. The Trail Blazers need to find as many surprising contributors as possible before the season begins. This is going to be a rebuilding season for Portland and its fanbase.
I'm not sure what to expect from the Trail Blazers, a team that looks 100 percent different than it did a season ago. Meanwhile, the Kings are a decent talented team with a lot of youth and should be looking to get off on the right foot.
I'll lay the bucket here.
