The Detroit Pistons invade the Staples Center to battle the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Pistons started the season winning five of their first six games, but they've since tailed off with three straight losses. Last night, Ersan Ilyasova and Reggie Jackson led the team with 20 points each while Andre Drummond added 18 points and 19 rebounds, but the Pistons blew a 17-point lead to lose to the Clippers by 101-96. The Pistons may have thought that they lucked out when they heard Chris Paul wasn't playing, but the Clippers inserted Jamal Crawford into the starting lineup and he exploded for a season-high 37 points. Going down the stretch, the Pistons really didn't have anyone to depend on for buckets and it really cost them as they scored just 36 points in the second half and just 16 in the fourth quarter. With the loss, Detroit falls to 5-4 on the season and 3-3 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will be eager to avoid a fifth straight loss after their 90-82 defeat at Dallas on Friday. Jordan Clarkson led the team with a game-high 21 points while Kobe Bryant returned from a two-game absence and scored 19 points, but no other Lakers player provided much as the team finished shooting just 33 percent from the field while committing 20 turnovers. With yet another loss, LA drops to 1-8 on the season and 1-5 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Pistons are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 21-8 ATS in their last 29 games following a loss, while the Lakers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the Pistons are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings and 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles.
Looking at the ATS trends listed above, there is absolutely no reason to back the Pistons to cover the spread here, except for the fact that they are desperate for a win and can't afford to slip up against a Lakers outfit playing this poorly.
