The NBA is taking a bit of a breather today after a big set of games last night. We’ve still got a stuffed weekend schedule to look forward to, however, as well as four matchups this evening. For now, let’s take our daily look at some of the key stats and players out there.
Bulls-Celtics: We had a great matchup in Boston last night between the Bulls and the Celtics. Isaiah Thomas scored 20 points--with nine coming in the final three minutes--to help power the team to a 105-100 win over Chicago. Kelly Olynyk helped out with 15 points, while Jae Crowder and Evan Turner each put up 13.
Jimmy Butler posted a season-high 36 for the Bulls, while Pau Gasol had his fifth straight double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Rockets-Wizards: James Harden was stellar last night against the Wizards, posting 42 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. His efforts helped push the Rockets to a 109-103 road victory. It was a great bounce-back for Harden, who had just 10 points in his last outing.
Corey Brewer had 15 points and Patrick Beverley managed 14 here. Houston has now won our of five and six of eight.
John Wall nearly tripled up on the other side with 26 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.
Lakers-Timberwolves: It took overtime to get there, but the Timberwolves eked past the Lakers 123-122 last night. Kevin Martin put up 37 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns logged 26 points with 14 rebounds. Martin was 6-of-9 from 3-point range and had 17 points in the fourth quarter alone. The Timberwolves are now 9-12 on the year.
As for the Lakers, D’Angelo Russell had a career-high 23 points here, while Julius Randle managed 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers are now 3-19.
Knicks-Jazz: The Knicks came out flat in Utah last night, getting outscored 29-11 in the first quarter and 31-24 in the second. That led to a 106-85 Jazz blowout win, which was a good turnaround for them after losing to the Kings.
Gordon Hayward put up 24 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field with four 3-pointers. He also had five assists and four rebounds. The Jazz are now 10-10.
As for the Knicks, they got yet another poor shooting effort from Carmelo Anthony, who went just 3-of-11 for 12 points. The Knicks are stumbling at 10-13.
