The San Antonio Spurs look to add to the win column with a win at Phillips Arena versus the Atlanta Hawks.
The San Antonio Spurs seem to defy the odds as they get another year older and continue to win…a lot. The Spurs rebounded from a rare loss to knock off the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 109-87. The best defense in the game came to life in the 4th by holding the Lakers to just 16 points to up their record to 19-5. Los Angeles couldn’t pull off the upset with 41% shooting and just three DD scorers but the SAS had no such issues with nearly 54% marksmanship with plenty of scoring options. LaMarcus Aldridge poured in 24 points and hauled in eleven rebounds with Patrick Mills right on his heels with 22 points. Kawhi Leonard followed with 16 and another eleven rebounds while six players added between 5-9 points.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking for another postseason appearance but they are in a win one, lose one mode and are just having trouble stringing wins together. The Hawks are around the middle of the pack in scoring and defense as they outscore the opposition 101-99 so there is virtually no room for error. The Hawks are coming off of a 107-94 loss at Oklahoma City where neither end of the floor held up their end of the bargain. The Thunder sank shots at almost 49% and Atlanta countered ay 45% but were hammered on the backboards 52-34 so a few more OKC baskets and more free throws won it. Kent Bazemore led Atlanta with 22 points with Jeff Teague scoring 18. Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha added 12 and eleven points but the Thunder were more explosive offensively.
The Spurs are 9-0 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 0 days rest and the over is 5-1 in Spurs last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while going 4-1 in Spurs last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The over is 4-0 in Hawks last 4 Saturday games and the under is 5-0 in Hawks last 5 overall while going 4-1 in Hawks last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. The Spurs are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Atlanta and are 22-9-1 ATS in the last 32 meetings. I don’t care for the situation with the Spurs playing on back to back nights versus a more rested team at home so I am concerned here…
