NBA Player Updates 12/22: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
December 22, 2015
Before tomorrow’s big 13-game schedule, the NBA is easing things up a bit tonight with just four matchups on the slate. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty to talk about in our daily wrap-up, so let’s check the scores and players in the news.
Celtics-Timberwolves: Former Celtic Kevin Garnett came back to Boston last night, but the home team got the victory to spoil his homecoming.
Kelly Olynyk put up 19 points, with Jae Crowder pitching in 18 during the 113-99 win. Boston got hot from 3-point range, nailing 12 of 25 from behind the arc. Their season-high is 14 made 3-pointers.
This could have been Garnett’s final game in Boston. He’s signed on a two-year deal with Minnesota, but is 39 years old and could very well retire before he can get back there.

Magic-Knicks: The Magic were able to halt the Knicks’ four-game win streak in its tracks last night at the Garden, taking a 107-99 win against the home team.
Nik Vucevic put up 26 points, tying a season-high, and also corralled nine rebounds. This was a close game until the end, when Orlando went on an 11-2 run to seal the victory.
The Knicks Carmelo Anthony scored 23 but tweaked his ankle in the second half. Lance Thomas was 9-of-9 from the field, tying a career-high with 24 points.
Hawks-Blazers: Last night in Atlanta, the Hawks were able to fend off the visiting Trail Blazers 106-97. Dennis Schroder posted 18 points in the victory, and even lost the cap on his tooth during a collision. He kept the cap in his sock and continued to play.
The Blazers were depleted in this one: Damon Lillard missed the first game of his career due to plantar fasciitis, and C.J. McCollum has two sprained ankles which caused him to sit out.
Nets-Bulls: The Nets rebounded from a horrid performance in their last outing to take a gritty win over the Bulls at United Center.
Brook Lopez put up 21 points and 12 rebounds in the 105-102 win, with Thaddeus Young posting 16 points and 13 rebounds of his own.
On the other side, Jimmy Butler had 24 points and Pau Gasol managed 20, but they couldn’t help the Bulls from losing their third straight game.
