The NBA is going dark tonight as teams around the league gear up for tomorrow’s big Christmas Day slate of five games. While we’re waiting, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there in the news.

Celtics-Hornets: Down in Charlotte last night, the Celtics were able to hold off a late rally by the Hornets to take a 102-89 victory on the road.
Kelly Olynyk scored 20 points here, one of five Boston players to finish in double-figures.
Jae Crowder put up 19 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.
The Celtics scored the first six points of the game here, and never trailed. They’ve won two in a row after losing four of five.

Knicks-Cavaliers: The Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony (sprained ankle) last night in Cleveland, but still managed to give the Cavaliers some trouble.
LeBron James scored 24 points, carrying his team to a 91-84 victory. The team tightened up on defense down the stretch, holding the Knicks to a 1-of-7 line with two turnovers in the last 4:07.
Kevin Love chipped in a double-double here, with 23 points and 13 rebounds. On the other side, Kristaps Porzingis managed 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Magic-Rockets: Evan Fournier made a crucial bucket and Tobias Harris sank a pair of key free throws in the waning seconds of last night’s game against the Rockets in Orlando, helping the Magic get the victory 104-101.
Nik Vucevic had 21, leading a half-dozen Magic players who scored in double-digits. Harris would finish with 19 and six rebounds.
Orlando shot well in this one but coughed up six turnovers in the fourth quarter.

Hawks-Pistons: The Hawks have slipped into second place in the Eastern Conference, thanks to a gritty 107-100 win over the Pistons last night.
Jeff Teague put up 23 points here, and Paul Milsap managed 18 of his own. Al Horford had 15 points and Dennis Schroder came up with 14.
This was the fifth straight win for the Hawks, who ended a three-game win streak for Detroit.
