January 13, 2016
The NBA is back tonight with a busy 10-game schedule, so there will be a lot to check out for us basketball fans. In the meantime, let’s visit with some of the key players and stats in the headlines today.
Suns-Pacers: The Suns are hurting right now, especially on the road. Indianapolis was able to get a home win 116-97 last night, helped out by Paul George.
George scored 21 points overall, with nine coming in the fourth quarter. The game was fairly close before that, but it turned into a blowout in the final minutes.
The Pacers move to 22-16 with the win, and Phoenix falls to 13-27.

Spurs-Pistons: San Antonio kept rolling last night with a trip to Auburn Hills. They overcame the Pistons 109-99 for their ninth straight win overall.
The Spurs outscored Detroit 57-41 through the second and third quarters, then were able to cruise to a victory.
Tony Parker posted a season-high 31 points here, while LaMarcus Aldridge doubled up on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Manu Ginobili had 15 points, and Tim Duncan had 14 with nine rebounds.
Celtics-Knicks: The Knicks were playing well last night against the Celtics before losing Carmelo Anthony to injury late in the first half. They were able to hold off Boston and grab a big 120-114 win, however.
Jerian Grant turned it on after Kristaps Porzingis fouled out, scoring 16 points (10 in the fourth quarter) with eight assists.
The Knicks have won five of six and are learning how to close out games. As for Anthony, his X-rays were negative. No word yet on whether he’ll play tonight, though.
Lakers-Pelicans: The Lakers bagged a rare win last night against the flailing Pelicans, getting a 95-91 result in L.A.
Anthony Davis was out with an injury here, and Kobe Bryant wasn’t able to complete the first half.
Aside from those injuries, the big story was Lou Williams, who scored 19 overall and nine in the fourth quarter.
The Lakers end a 4-game skid with this victory, just their ninth of the season.
