NBA Player Updates 1/24: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
January 24, 2016
We’ve got four NBA matchups coming across the league today, so there will be plenty for basketball fans to enjoy. Before those games get started, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the news.
Knicks-Hornets: Both the Knicks and Hornets looked pretty tired last night when they met in Charlotte. The Hornets came out on top of a 97-84 game which was pretty sloppy on both sides.
That said, Jeremy Lin was sharp, posting a game-high 12 points in the first half. Kemba Walker logged 11 points in the fourth to help seal the victory.
Charlotte was without three starters due to injury in this one, so it was a nice win for them.

Bucks-Pelicans: Ryan Anderson overcame a sickness during warm-ups to score 23 points against the Bucks last night in New Orleans. His night was capped with six 3-pointers, which ties a season-high and helped the team to a 116-99 victory.
Anthony Davis put up 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists here. As a team, New Orleans hit a franchise-record 17-of-31 3-pointers on a hot-shooting evening.
Cavs-Bulls: The coaching switch this week didn’t seem to help the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. They looked flat in a 96-83 loss to the Bulls in Tyronn Lue’s coaching debut.
For Chicago, Pau Gasol logged 25 points. Jimmy Butler would add 20 of his own.
LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving didn’t make much of a difference here, and the team shot just 9-of-22 from the free-throw line. That effort led to a spattering of boos from the home crowd.
Lakers-Blazers: 121-103 was the final score last night in Portland, with the Trail Blazers taking a victory over the Lakers. Damian Lillard posted 36 points here, and had five 3-pointers. C.J. McCollum had 28 points, and Portland led by as many as 27 in the first half.
This was Kobe Bryant’s last game in Portland as he continues his farewell tour. He’ll go just 6-26 in that city, his worst record anywhere.
