NBA Trade Updates: Potential Moves and Hot Topic Players Involved in Trade Talks Right Now
February 15, 2016
Over this NBA All-Star weekend, we’ve been talking about all the current trade rumors out there--and there are certainly plenty to choose from. That said, let’s check out today’s dose of the notable players from around the league who could be involved in deals heading into this week’s deadline.
Every year, we’re talking about the trade rumors surrounding the Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins, and this season is no different.
With Sacramento hanging onto coach George Karl (at least for now), the situation is once again ripe for a Cousins trade. There’s obviously no shortage of interest here; Miami, Chicago and Boston have reportedly made some inquiries.
Whether or not any of that talk comes to fruition, or simply vanishes yet again, has yet to be seen.

Blake Griffin trade rumors have bounced back and forth ever since his famous “punching incident” a week or two ago, and they’re back at the forefront once again.
The Clippers have had no shortage of offers for Griffin, and though they were originally denying a desire to deal him, new reports have come out saying the team might like to ship him off after all.
That said, the Clippers reportedly haven’t been impressed with any of the offers for Griffin, so unless someone steps up with a great offer he probably won’t be going anywhere. Still, the potential is there--however small the possibility may be.
Oddly enough, L.A. has been playing a lot better without Griffin, who will be sidelined a few more weeks with his broken hand.
The New York Knicks are always involved in heavy trade rumors, and even though the Carmelo Anthony talk died out this weekend, they’re still not out of the loop just yet.
With the team trying to rebuild, their first order of business is to acquire a point guard.
The Knicks have been linked to a few different players, such as Mike Conley and Jeff Teague. The Grizzlies are likely to hang on to Conley, and Teague will probably be too expensive to the asset-poor Knicks.
That brings talk to a possible trade for Michael Carter-Williams, who hasn’t exactly been lighting it up over the past couple of years, but would be significantly better than what they have now (Jose Calderon).
New York isn’t expected to make any huge trades, but this one is at least plausible.
There have been some rumors out there about Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant is a free agent this off-season, and he’s widely expected to be leaving OKC for greener pastures. Could the team possibly deal him before losing him for good? In all likelihood, no.
There’s very little chance of Durant being traded, especially with the team challenging for a high playoff spot out West. They do need to tweak their roster a bit as they make a run, however. What they need is a 3-point shooter (besides Steve Novak) and a strong defender. Some names being tossed out there include Jerryd Baylerss, Kevin Martin, Courtney Lee, P.J. Tucker and Jared Dudley. We’ll see what happens.
