We’ve got a pretty nice NBA schedule lined up tonight, so there will be plenty to keep our attention in the coming hours. In the meantime, let’s visit with some of the notable players and stats in the news.
Pelicans-Pistons: Anthony Davis put his name in the record books last night. He recorded a franchise-record 59 points and hauled in 20 rebounds, helping the Pelicans to a 111-106 win over the Pistons last night in Auburn Hills.
Davis was 24-of-34 from the field in breaking the previous franchise-high of 50 points (Jamal Mashburn 13 years ago). He had 19 points in the fourth quarter alone. He, Shaquille O’Neal and Chris Webber are the only players with at least 50 points and 20 rebounds in a game since 1983.

Cavs-Thunder: The Cavaliers bagged a 115-92 victory last night in Oklahoma City, thanks to Kevin Love’s 29 points. It was Cleveland’s fifth straight win.
Kyrie Irving sat out the final three quarters due to flu-like symptoms. LeBron James had 25 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, while Tristan Thompson doubled up with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Celtics-Nuggets: Up in Denver, the visiting Celtics were able to post a 121-101 win over the Nuggets last night.
Isaiah Thomas put up 22 points and 12 assists, 10 of those in the first half. Avery Bradley added 20 points here, and Boston has now beat the Nugets our times in a row.
Denver coughed up 24 turnovers and has lost three of their last four. They were outrebounded 48-36.
Bulls-Lakers: Last night marked the great Kobe Bryant’s final game in Chicago, and it didn’t go well for him. The Bulls got a 126-115 victory here, thanks to 24 points each from Derrick Rose and E’Twaun Moore, who was 10-of-14 from the field. That ties his career-high. Pau Gasol also logged 21 points.
