The Houston Rockets and the Portland Trailblazers do battle tonight at the Moda Center.
The Rockets have lost seven of their last 10 games and dropped out of the top eight in the Western Conference standings with a 117-114 overtime loss at Utah on Tuesday. James Harden had a massive game of 42 points on 16 of 30 shooting, Trevor Ariza added 18 points while Dwight Howard had 13 points and 16 rebounds but with the game tied at 112-112 and less than one minute left in overtime, it was the Jazz who were the better team. WIth the loss, Houston fell to 28-29 overall which leaves them half a game behind Utah.

Meanwhile, the Trailblazers have won 15 of their last 18 games and they'll be looking to build on their current six-game win streak after beating the Nets by 112-104 on Tuesday. The Blazers relied heavily on their dynamic backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum and they delivered with a combined 68 points, 10 of which came in the last 2:15 of the game when the game was deadlocked at 101-101. Perhaps the Blazers should have done better to put away the Nets earlier as they led by double digits for most of the game, but they rallied late to steal the win and improve to 30-27 on the season which is good enough for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
In ATS trends, the Rockets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win, while the Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Head to head, the Rockets are 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Portland but 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Rockets are long overdue for a big win given the talent on their roster, but I can't see that happening against this Portland team who have absolutely been on fire lately.
