The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns duke it out at the Talking Stick Resort Arena on Monday.
The Timberwolves have lost five of their last seven games but are coming off one of their best wins of the season, beating the Thunder by 99-96 on Friday. Gorgui Dieng led the way with 25 points, Andrew Wiggins added 20 points while Karl-Anthony Towns had 17 points, but with the game on the line, the Wolves turned to Ricky Rubio who sunk the game-winning 3-pointer with just 0.2 seconds left in the game to pull off the unlikely victory. Despite the win, Minnesota are still stuck near the bottom of the standings with a record of 21-45, but they'll gain plenty of confidence from the tough win.

Meanwhile, the Suns are ranked even lower in the standings with an overall record of 17-49, but they really put up a strong fight in Saturday's 123-116 loss at Golden State. Brandon Knight returned to the starting lineup and wasted no time pouring in a game-high 30 points with seven assists while Alex Len continued his strong form with 26 points and 13 rebounds, but the Suns fell just short of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the season as the Warriors dominated the fourth quarter by 37-21 to escape with the narrow win. Of course, the Suns will be disappointed that they let the game slip after leading by 10 points late in the third quarter, but it was certainly a moral victory for the Suns who pushed the league-best Warriors right to the edge.
In ATS trends, the Wolves are 8-22 ATS in their last 30 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days rest, while the Suns are 4-22 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
Head to head, the Wolves are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Phoenix and the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
These two teams are supposed to be tanking their way towards the upcoming NBA lottery, but both teams are coming off impressive performances so that really throws a spanner in the works. The Wolves will be full of confidence following Friday's thrilling win over the Thunder, but the Suns were able to push the league-best Warriors for 48 minutes which is an achievement of its own. This game is basically a coin toss so I'm just going to go with the Wolves who have covered in five of their last seven games in Phoenix.
