The Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons do battle at The Palace on Wednesday night.
The Hawks have won five of their last six games and they'll be gunning for a third straight win after making light work of the Pacers in a 104-75 rout on Sunday. Paul Millsap and Al Horford led the scoring with 18 points apiece while Kyle Korver sunk four 3-pointers en route to 14 points as the Hawks led by double digits early on and never let the Pacers into the game. As a team, the Hawks shot 47.1 percent from the field and connected on 15 of 30 three-point attempts, but what really impressed me was their defense which has allowed an average of just 86.6 points in the last six games. Atlanta are really starting to heat up now and their 38-29 record has them sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, just 1.5 games behind Boston who are currently in third place.

Meanwhile, the Pistons have been in decent form lately and were aiming for their fourth win in five games, but instead they fell flat on their faces in a 124-81 loss at Washington no Monday. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the scoring with 18 points on eight of 13 shooting but this game was over before it really began as the Pistons were slow out of the gates and found themselves down by 34-15 after the first quarter. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40.5 percent from the field, three of 23 from the 3-point line and they committed 20 turnovers which never gave them a chance of making a comeback and to make matters worse, the loss drops the Pistons to a record of 34-33 and out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
In ATS trends, the Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall, while the Pistons are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points.
The Pistons have been playing some good basketball lately but they fell to pieces against the Wizards on Monday so it's a little hard to back them over the Hawks who are starting to peak at the right time of the season.
