The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Salk Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz on Monday night.
The Lakers have lost seven of their last eight games and they're in danger of losing a fourth straight after getting blown out by the Wizards in a 101-88 loss last night. D'Angelo Russell made a shook off an ankle sprain to lead the team with 22 points, Kobe Bryant added 17 points while Julius Randle had 14, but the Lakers shot themselves in the foot time and time again with their turnovers and miscues on fast breaks. Jordan Clarkson has been in decent form lately and was coming off a 20-point night against the Nuggets, but had just two points on one of seven shooting last night which really hurt the Lakers' already slim chances of causing the upset. With the loss, LA drops to 15-57 on the season and 10-26 at home.

Meanwhile, the Jazz have won seven of their last nine games and will be coming home from a five-game road trip capped by a 93-84 win over the Timberwolves on Saturday. Derrick Favors led the charge with 19 points, Gordon Hayward added 18 points while Rodney Hood and Trey Lyles had 15 points each as the Jazz pulled away in the fourth quarter to take down the lowly Timberwolves. Defense was the key to the win as the Jazz held the Wolves to just 38.1 percent shooting but the Wolves were also coming off a double overtime game so fatigue could have also been a factor. Still, with the win, Utah improves to 36-37 on the season which is good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.
In ATS trends, the Lakers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, while the Jazz are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the Lakers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
I would have thought that this spread for too hefty for the Jazz to cover, but after what I saw from the Lakers last night, I'd be surprised if they Jazz don't cruise to massive win tonight.
