The Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat battle in Game 1 tonight at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Hornets were one of the surprise packages of the league this season with a season record of 48-34 which is good enough for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Kemba Walker led the offense with averages of 20.9 points and 5-2 assists per game, Nicolas Batum had a solid season with averages of 14.9 points and 5.8 assists per game while Jeremy Lin and Marvin Williams contributed on a nightly basis as the Hornets surged after the All-Star break to break their way into the playoff picture.

Meanwhile, the Heat were one of the most consistent teams in the league all season which is why they sit comfortably in third place with a record of 48-34. Chris Bosh was leading the team in scoring but he hasn't played since the All-Star break and remains unlikely to play anymore this season, but the Heat really didn't lose too much as they have plenty of players who picked up the slack. Dwyane Wade regularly leads the team in scoring with averages of 19.0 points and 4.6 assists per game, Hassan Whiteside averaged 14.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game and Goran Dragic averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists and the contributions go down the roster with Gerald Green, Luol Deng and the newly acquired Joe Johnson.
In ATS trends, the Hornets are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 1-6 ATS in their last seven Conference Quarterfinals games, while the Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last six Conference Quarterfinals games and 6-0 ATS in their last six home games.
Head to head, the Hornets are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami and the road team is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
The Heat and the Hornets met four times in the regular season with both teams coming away with two wins each which means that we could be in for a long series, possibly going to seven games. I really can't pick a winner in this series just yet, but given that the last two meetings between these teams was decided by just three points, I'm just going to take the points where I can.
