The San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder do battle in a pivotal Game 5 tonight at the AT&T Center.
The Thunder were able to level the series at 2-2 with an impressive 111-97 win over the Spurs in Game 4 on Sunday. Kevin Durant had a rough start to the game, but he finished strong to lead the team with a career playoff-high 41 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Dion Waiters added 17 points off the bench, Steven Adams chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Russell Westbrook bounced back from Game 3 with 14 points, seven rebounds and 15 assists. As a team, the Thunder shot a healthy 50.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from the 3-point line, but it was their defense in the second half that was the difference as they outscored the Spurs by 66-44 to run away with the crucial win.

Meanwhile, the Spurs stormed out of the gates to an early lead of 10 points but they couldn't find a way to slow down the Thunder's Durant in the fourth quarter where he actually outscored the Spurs by 17-16. Tony Parker had a great game of 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Kawhi Leonard added 21 points while LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 points, but the Spurs connected on just two of 12 from the 3-point line, their worst shooting figures of the playoffs. Tim Duncan played just 12 minutes as he was plagued with foul trouble so coach Popovich went with Boris Diaw who played very well, finishing with 11 points on five of eight shooting, so expect him to feature more in this series, but the Spurs need more production from their bench against this streaky Thunder team.
In ATS trends, the Thunder are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record, while the Spurs are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Conference Semifinals games and 18-6 ATS in their last 24 games following a loss.
Head to head, the Thunder are 6-2 ATS in their last eight meetings overall and the favorite is 21-8-1 ATS in the last 30 meetings.
The Thunder were faced with a must-win situation and passed with flying colors so it's up to the Spurs to respond or risk falling behind 3-2 in the series. I think the Spurs will be good enough to get the job done at home, but it will be close from start to finish so I'm taking the Thunder with the points in this one.
