Nigeria and Lithuania play Tuesday in their second match of the men’s basketball tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Nigeria looks for a more positive performance after losing to Argentina, 94-66. Nigeria is averaging 66 points on 39 percent shooting and is allowing 94 points on 46 percent shooting. Ike Diogu is averaging 15 points and 13 rebounds while Ebi Ere is averaging 14 points and one assist. Andy Ogide is the third double-digit scorer and Michael Gbinije is grabbing four rebounds. Nigeria is shooting 16 percent from beyond the arc and 82 percent from the free throw line. Nigeria is allowing 44 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 38 rebounds per game. Nigeria needs to do a much better job from shooting the long ball if it’s going to have success in this tournament.

Lithuania look to build on their impressive and upset 82-76 victory over Brazil in the opening match. Lithuania is averaging 82 points on 50 percent shooting and is allowing 76 points on 46.4 percent shooting. Mantas Kalnietis is averaging 16 points and eight assists while Paulius Jankūnas is averaging 15 points and seven rebounds. Renaldas Seibutis is the third double-digit scorer and Jonas Mačiulis is dishing three assists. Lithuania is shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. Lithuania is allowing 14.3 percent shooting from deep and is grabbing 33 rebounds per game. Lithuania has to be feeling great after upsetting the hoist country in convincing fashion.
Nigeria has a decent young roster that can pull off a win or two before going home, but it's hard to argue with how well Lithuania played in its opening match. Kalnietis looked unstoppable on the offensive end and the whole team shot the ball well from deep. Given what we just saw from Nigeria, I'm afraid there's not enough offensive firepower to keep up.
Look for Lithuania to improve to 2-0 these olympics.
