The United States and Serbia meet Friday in their fourth match of the men’s basketball tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The United States looks to keep the ball rolling after a 3-0 start in this tournament. In the 98-88 victory over Australia, the United States shot 39 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc. The US allowed 50 percent shooting from the field and 33 percent shooting from deep. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 31 points and eight rebounds while Kyrie Irving had 19 points and five assists. Kevin Durant was the third double-digit scorer and DeMarcus Cousins had eight rebounds. The United States didn’t exactly play well against Australia, but the wake up call may have been just what the Americans needed. Team USA has to execute better on the offensive end and communicate better defensively in order to avoid another scare.

Serbia could use a nice upset victory after a 1-2 start in these olympics. In the 76-75 loss to France, Serbia shot 46.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. Serbia allowed 46.3 percent shooting from the field and 43.8 percent shooting from deep. Miroslav Raduljica led the way with 16 points and three rebounds while Miloš Teodosić had 10 points and nine assists. Bogdan Bogdanović was the third double-digit scorer and Nikola Jokić had four assists. Serbia could easily be 2-1 right now after losing to France by just one point and that's while turning the ball over 16 times. Serbia has played decent basketball this tournament overall and has been solid on the offensive end with six quarters of 20 or more points.
The best thing that could have happened to the United States was a close game this early to wake everybody up and remind them that they're not the only team trying to earn a medal these olympics. This is bad news for Serbia, a team that's not as physical as Australia and doesn't have the NBA talent to throw at those guys.
The USA should get back on its blowout tour and make this game a lot less painful.
