Nigeria and Brazil meet Monday in their fifth match of the men’s basketball tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Nigeria has another chance to make a last second push to sneak into the quarterfinals. In the 90-76 win over Croatia, Nigeria shot 44.1 percent from the field and 47.2 percent from beyond the arc. Nigeria allowed 40 percent shooting from the field and 21.4 percent shooting from deep. Michael Umeh led the way with 19 points and four assists while Josh Akognon had 18 points and one rebound. Alade Aminu was the third double-digit scorer and Ike Diogu grabbed 12 rebounds. Nigeria pulled off a nice upset after losing its first three games and still has an outside shot to sneak into the quarters with another big victory. Nigeria hit 17 threes in its last game and will need to hit the outside shot again.

Brazil need a bounce back victory after a rough 1-3 record in the tournament. In the 111-107 loss to Argentina, Brazil shot 45.8 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from beyond the arc. Brazil allowed 45.6 percent shooting from the field and 40.5 percent shooting from deep. Nene led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Marcus Marquinhos had 14 points and three assists. Alex Garcia was the third double-digit scorer and Guilherme Giovannoni grabbed six rebounds. Brazil’s only victory this tournament was a one-point win over Spain. The home team doesn’t pack a ton of talent, but you would have liked to see a better showing for the fans. Brazil needs a win here to have any chance of advancing.
I gave Nigeria credit all tournament despite it's losses and now it has to really be taken seriously after pounding Croatia. However, Brazil should be up for this game like no other with it possibly being the last in front of its home fans. Brazil has enough to win this game if it brings the energy.
I'll side with Brazil in a toss-up game.
