Here is your 2016 Denver Nuggets NBA preview.
Key Player Losses: None. The Nuggets didn’t lose a single player worth mentioning, as they kept their entire team intact.
Key Player Additions: None. Once again, the Nuggets are excited about the young core they currently have in place and focused on keeping those players around. The Nuggets didn’t make any key singing during the offseason.
Draft: Jamal Murray is a solid first round pick due to his ability to shoot the basketball. In one season at Kentucky, Murray shot 45.4 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from beyond the arc. With the way the league is going, Murray will have a long, successful NBA career. Juan Hernangómez is a long, lengthy big with a great feel around the basket, while Malik Beasley is a confident guard who can fill it up when he gets going. All three of these players have great upside, but Murray is the one who will see the most playing time this season and could be a key spark immediately off the bench.
Outlook: The Nuggets were able to win 33 games last season in the West with a roster most people don’t give much credit. The Nuggets were also the only team in the league last season to beat the Warriors and the Spurs during the regular season. Denver has an intriguing core of young players that could make some noise if everybody grows and stays together. We may be a year away from the Nuggets competing for a playoff spot, but this is a franchise moving in the right direction.
