The Line: 76ers +6.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers play a preseason matchup Tuesday night at the Mullins Center.
The Boston Celtics enter the 2016-17 season as a team that thinks it can win the East or at the very least push the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics already had a nice core with Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder and Isiah Thomas, but the addition of Al Horford gives Boston an intriguing starting lineup that can produce at both ends of the floor. As for the preseason, the Boston Celtics need to find some depth, and that starts with the young players such as Terry Rozier, Ben Bentil, R.J. Hunter and James Young. All four of those players have potential to be impact players and could be the difference this season overall. The quality of the Boston Celtics bench will determine just how far they can go in the watered down East.

The Philadelphia 76ers are the one team in the league that could certainly use the preseason given their struggles over the years. With Ben Simmons now sidelined for three months due to injury, the 76ers have roster spots open and competition for playing time is certainly there. It’s going to be nice to see Joel Embiid on the court for once while the progression of guys such as Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor will give us a good idea of where the 76ers are heading this season. As for the rest of the preseason, the Philadelphia 76ers need guys to earn playing time, and that starts with players such as Kendall Marshall, Nik Stauskas, Jerami Grant and James Webb III. The 76ers currently have 10 players who are 22 years old or younger, and damn near everybody on the roster has a chance to earn a spot and produce.
The Celtics are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games. The 76ers are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 Tuesday games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite. The under is 5-2 in 76ers last 7 road games.
You should look for the young teams where there's a lot of competition and guys fighting for roster spots when betting preseason. There's no team that fits the bill like the Philadelphia 76ers. Teams like the 76ers play the preseason hard and are trying to impress the coaches. The Celtics are a team with bigger goals and are using these games simply to knockoff rust and get ready for the real deal. The 76ers will be playing to win.
