The Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers meet Thursday night for preseason action at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Washington Wizards hope to bounce back after losing their first preseason game to the Miami Heat, 95-106. In the loss the Wizards really struggled on the defensive end, allowing 55.1 percent shooting from the field and 11 made threes. The good news for the Wizards is that Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench while Trey Burke had 14 points and five assists. Marcin Gortat was another double-digit scorer and Sheldon McClellan snagged four rebounds. John Wall did not play in the game and Bradley Beal contributed 16 minutes. The Washington Wizards are still going through the motions with a new coaching staff and need to find guys who can produce behind their superstar backcourt.

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics in their first preseason game, 92-89. The 76ers won despite turning the ball over 22 times, and it starts by holding the Celtics to 40.9 percent shooting. The big story for the 76ers was finally seeing Joel Embiid on the court, and he produced six points and four rebounds in 13 minutes. Embiid is going to be the x-factor for the 76ers until rookie Ben Simmons returns from injury. Brandon Paul scored 15 points off the bench while T.J. McConnell had 13 points and four assists. The Philadelphia 76ers have a ton of competition due to so many question marks with their roster, which makes them an intriguing preseason team. Guys have a chance to earn serious playing time with the 76ers if they show in prove in games like this one.
The under is 5-1 in Wizards last 6 overall and are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The 76ers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and the over is 4-0 in 76ers last 4 overall.
I backed the 76ers as six-point underdogs against the Celtics and they won outright. The 76ers are a young team with a ton of open playing time, which usually results in a lot of guys playing hard for something. The Wizards just aren't a good basketball team. I'll gladly take my free bucket and the young 76ers once again.
