The Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics meet Saturday afternoon in preseason action at the Mohegan Sun Arena on NBATV.
The Charlotte Hornets are still looking for their first preseason win after a quick 0-2 start where they’ve been outscored 202-180. The Hornets have struggled defensively in both games and have racked up 28 turnovers total. The good news is guys like Jeremy Lamb and Frank Kaminsky III have shined, which is a good sign considering they’re key players off the Hornets bench. Roy Hibbert has also been a force on the glass and has shown flashes offensively in limited play. Kemba Walker has played just nine minutes of preseason ball due to a knee injury that kept him out of the first game. The Charlotte Hornets were expected by many to struggle after last years success and unless they can get something going in exhibition play, it may ring true.

The Boston Celtics improved to 1-1 in preseason ball with that one loss being a three-point margin to the 76ers. The Celtics have combined for 30 turnovers and 44 assists in their first two games. The Celtics are playing their starters much more than most teams, as Isaiah Thomas has logged 39 minutes and Avery Bradley has played 46 minutes. It’s clear coach Brad Stevens wants his guys fresh and ready to go by the team the season begins, as most other coaches are being careful with how much their key guys play. Prized rookie Jaylen Brown has been a treat to watch so far, as he’s 8-20 from the field with nine rebounds. Terry Rozier has racked up 26 points off the bench as well. The Boston Celtics are playing some solid basketball out of the gate and will be a team to watch early in the regular season.
The Hornets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home and the under is 5-0 in Hornets last 5 overall. The under is 12-1 in Celtics last 13 games following a ATS win. The Hornets are 13-5-1 ATS in the last 19 meetings in Boston and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings overall.
The Hornets haven't shown much in the first two games and are being careful with their star point guard who is nursing a knee injury. The Boston Celtics have been solid in their first two games and are playing their starters a ton. I'll take the home team and the reasonable chalk here.
