The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers meet Sunday night in preseason NBA at the Citizens Business Bank Arena on NBATV.
The Denver Nuggets are off to a solid 2-0 preseason start that includes two road victories over the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Lakers. In the wins, the Nuggets have racked up a combined 49 assists and 209 points. Jusuf Nurkic has led the way for Denver with 33 points and 24 rebounds while Will Barton has 32 points and seven assists. Rookie Jamal Murray has produced 25 points off the bench and Nikola Jokic has grabbed 16 rebounds. The Nuggets are a young, talented team that feels it can take another step in the right direction this season. After the first two preseason games and seeing so many guys contribute, it’s hard to argue that the Denver Nuggets are going to be an exciting team to watch in 2016-17.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 1-1 in preseason action after losing to the Nuggets Friday night. In the first two games, the Lakers have produced 38 turnovers and are 18-56 from beyond the arc. D'Angelo Russell has led the way for the Lakers with 25 points and eight assists while Jordan Clarkson has 27 points and six rebounds. Rookie Brandon Ingram is just 2-15 from the field and Tarik Black has chipped in 21 points off the bench. The Lakers have looked decent in their first two games and are really just one poor fourth quarter against Denver from winning both contests. Although you’d like to see Ingram find his rhythm before the regular season starts, as he is a key piece this season. Either way, the Los Angeles Lakers are a young team slowly gaining some confidence in the new era.
The Nuggets are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win. The Lakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and the under is 4-1 in Lakers last 5 Sunday games. The Nuggets are 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Los Angeles and 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings overall.
Both teams have shown promise so far in the preseason and the game between these two a couple of days ago was well played. It's hard to beat a team twice within a week and the Lakers should be able to clean up on their turnovers. Give me the home team and the small chalk, as the Nuggets suffer their first preseason loss.
