The Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat meet Tuesday night in preseason NBA at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Brooklyn Nets are 1-1 in the preseason and are coming off a loss to the New York Knicks. In the two games, the Nets have struggled to score, as they’ve racked up 33 turnovers and are coming off a game in which they shot 38.7 percent from the field. Joe Harris has been the best player for Brooklyn, producing a combined 23 points and six rebounds while Jeremy Lin has 21 points and one assist in 17 minutes. Brook Lopez has played a combined 26 minutes and rookie Yogi Ferrell has scored 13 points off the bench. The Brooklyn Nets have a lot of playing time available and that should result in more competitive performances. However, the first two preseason games don’t do much to change my mind that the Brooklyn Nets are going to be bad at basketball.

The Miami Heat are 1-1 in preseason and are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the two games, the Heat are 19-45 from beyond the arc and have turned the ball over 34 times. The great news for Miami is that Hassan Whiteside has produced 37 points and 25 rebounds while Goran Dragic has 25 points and 10 assists. Justise Winslow has 19 points and six rebounds and Dion Waiters has 26 points and 14 assists. The Miami Heat are still a question mark after losing Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but there have been many players who have stepped up big in the first two preseason games. If this type of play continues from the role players, the Heat have a chance to be a darkhorse playoff team in the East.
The Nets are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Heat are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games and the under is 4-1 in Heat last 5 home games. The Nets are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Miami and 1-7 ATS in the last 8 meetings overall.
The Heat have actually looked pretty sharp in the preseason and have a lot of young guys fighting for playing time. The Nets have struggled at both ends of the court and don't have the depth to compete with most teams in this league. The Heat at home and the reasonable chalk is an easy pick for Tuesday night.
