The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves play a Wednesday NBA preseason game at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Denver Nuggets are off to a solid 2-1 preseason start and are playing their fourth straight road game. The Nuggets have shown the promise in exhibition play that the fans have seen for quite some time, as Denver is one of the younger and quickly upcoming teams in the NBA. Danilo Gallinari has produced 33 points in 49 minutes and Will Barton has scored double-digit points in all three games. Jusuf Nurkic has grabbed 40 rebounds in three games and Emmanuel Mudiay has dished out 15 assists. The Denver Nuggets have topped 100 points in all three games and continue to shoot a high percentage from the field. If the Nuggets can play like this in the regular season, they’ll be a team to watch in the Western Conference.
USA TODAY Sports
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 1-1 in preseason play and are still searching for some consistent offense. In both games, the Timberwolves have shot below 40 percent from the field and are a combined 17-49 from three. Karl-Anthony Towns is a combined 9-24 from the field while Zach LaVine has 39 points and six rebounds. Andrew Wiggins has scored 28 points in two games and Ricky Rubio has seven assists in 39 minutes. The Minnesota Timberwolves are still trying to find themselves offensively under new coach Tom Thibodeau and hope things improve before the regular season tips off. The Timberwolves have higher expectations with all of their young talent, but Minnesota hasn’t shown much out of the gate just yet.
The Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game and the over is 4-1 in Nuggets last 5 games following a ATS loss. The Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Nuggets are 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings in Minnesota and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings overall.
The Nuggets and the points is interesting given the way they've played in their first three games. However, the Minnesota Timberwolves are due for a breakout performance and have overall more young talent than Denver. I like the Minnesota Timberwolves and the small line in this one.
