The Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz meet Wednesday night in preseason NBA at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The Phoenix Suns are off to a slow 1-2 preseason start and take the road for the second time. The Suns struggles have come on the defensive side, as Phoenix allowed 219 points in their last two games and have given up 11 threes. The good news for the Suns is that Devin Booker has racked up 66 points and nine assists while Brandon Knight has 39 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Marquese Chriss has 37 points and 20 rebounds and Alex Len has 17 points in 63 minutes. The Phoenix Suns have a lot of offensive talent and could be a fun team to watch if Booker continues to make strides in his second season. The concern for the Suns will continue to come on the defensive end of the court, as allowing 100-plus points consistently won’t produce many wins.

The Utah Jazz look to build on their solid 2-1 preseason start and play their first home game. The Jazz continue to play great defense, as Utah has allowed less than 100 points in all three games and just held the Los Angeles Clippers to 40 percent shooting. George Hill has 25 points and 11 assists while Rodney Hood has produced 25 points and five rebounds in 50 minutes. Gordon Hayward has scored 32 points in 40 minutes and Joe Johnson has 13 points and eight rebounds. The Utah Jazz are expected to be that team in the West that makes the biggest jump and finally gets back into the playoffs. As long as the Jazz continue to play defense at a high level and make timely baskets, they’re going to be a threat this season.
The Suns are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up loss and the over is 4-0 in Suns last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Jazz are 5-20-3 ATS in their last 28 Wednesday gamesand the under is 5-1 in Jazz last 6 games playing on 1 days rest. The Suns are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Utah and 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings overall.
The Utah Jazz have been consistent this preseason and continue to be stingy on the defensive end. The Suns aren't consistent enough as a team and haven't shown much force defensively in the preseason. At home, the Utah Jazz should be able to cover this reasonable number.
