The Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat end their NBA preseason Friday night at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Philadelphia 76ers have lost five straight preseason games and are coming off a Saturday loss to the Detroit Pistons. In the losing effort, the 76ers shot 36.8 percent from the field and made 3-20 threes. Joel Embiid has double-digit points in his last four games and Robert Covington has grabbed 16 rebounds in his last four games. Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel missed the last game for the 76ers with injuries and are doubtful for this contest as well. The Philadelphia 76ers have scored 91 or less points in three straight games and have really struggled from the field overall. We know it’s going to be a work in progress for the young and undermanned 76ers, but even some progress in the preseason would be appreciated in Philadelphia.

The Miami Heat play a rare preseason back-to-back and are fresh off a loss to the Charlotte Hornets. In the losing effort, the Heat shot 36 percent from the field and made 12 threes. Hassan Whiteside has 37 points and 29 rebound sin his last three games while Derrick Williams has produced 21 points and 11 rebounds in his last two games. Wayne Ellington has scored double-digit points in four of his last five games and Rodney McGruder is coming off a 19-point performance. The Miami Heat continue to get solid play out of guys you would least expect and have shown flashes of being a hungry, exciting basketball team. There’s a chance the Heat could be better than expected this season despite losing Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
The 76ers are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 3 or more days rest and the over is 4-0 in 76ers last 4 overall. The Heat are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 Friday games. The 76ers are 4-0-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Miami and the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Miami.
This is a lot of points to give up with a team that just played last night, but the 76ers have been awful much of the preseason and can't put the ball through the hoop at all. This game has to be Heat or fade given the 76ers struggles.
