The Dallas Mavericks and the Charlotte Hornets do battle tonight at the Spectrum Center.
The Mavericks have lost nine of their last 10 and will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Spurs in a 94-87 home defeat. Wesley Matthews broke out of a shooting slump and led the team with 26 points, Harrison Barnes added 17 points while Seth Curry had 14 points off the bench, but in a tight contest, it was the Spurs' Patty Mills who scored 10 of his 23 points in the final 3:04 to steal the game from the struggling Mavs. Dirk Nowitzki was once again missing from the starting lineup and is expected to miss at least the next two games.

Meanwhile, the Hornets were aiming for a third straight win on Tuesday but the Hornets just faded away in a 112-89 loss to the Pistons on Tuesday. Kemba Walker led the team with 23 points, Marco Belinelli added 11 points while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipped in with 10 points but no other player finished in double figures as the Hornets battled with the Pistons in a tight first half, before the Pistons dominated the second half by 55-35. Overall, it was a disappointing loss for a Hornets team looking to gain some momentum, but they were playing their fourth game in five nights so it was always going to be tough. With the loss, Charlotte falls to 10-8 overall and 5-5 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavs are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, while the Hornets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the Mavs are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Charlotte and the Underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
You really have to feel for the Mavs who have been dealing with injuries all season, but they did show plenty of fight in a close loss to the Spurs last night. On the other hand, the Hornets were starting to look good before their latest loss, but I'll mark that one down to fatigue as it was just a tough spot in their schedule. I'm expecting a low scoring affair with the Hornets cruising to a double-digit win at home.
